Preserving your family history
Minnesota winters are hard on a lot of things — and old photos are no exception. Water damage, fire, humidity, even just time can destroy printed memories that took a lifetime to accumulate. Those pictures of your parents when they were young, your kids on their first day of school, letters in handwriting you'd recognize anywhere — none of it can be recreated. Having it all digitized means that no matter what happens to the originals, the memories themselves are safe.
With over 30 years of experience, our expert team of archivists handles every project with the utmost care at our St. Louis Park, MN facility. Your priceless memorabilia never leaves our care. All of our photo scanning includes basic color correction and auto-orientation on the completed media. Your original media will be returned once your project is complete. Estimates and quotes are available, upon request.
Loose print scans are captured on a roll scanner that has pressure sensitive rollers and paper guides. Acceptable sizes for loose print scans are 2" x 2" size up to 8.5" x 11". Scans include the entire image, including borders. Loose print scans can not have adhesive or other sticky substances on them, no post-it notes on the backs, no rips or tears that could get caught, and cannot be rigid or mounted to board. Loose prints that do not meet these requirements will be considered small format flatbed scans. Tip: To estimate the number of prints you have, measure your stack of prints. Every 1" of loose prints equals approximately 100 prints.

Yes, in many cases scanning can enhance your photos. Old prints can be color-corrected, sharpened, and restored digitally, giving them new life while retaining the original look.
Unlike physical prints that can fade, tear, or be damaged by moisture or sunlight, digital files can be backed up in multiple locations, keeping your memories safe from accidents and natural wear.
Absolutely! Once digitized, photos can be easily shared via email, cloud storage, or social media. We recommend purchasing additional copies of your USB or DVD to distribute to family members. Doing this provides your family multiple pack ups and allows each family member to manage their scans as they wish.
High-resolution JPEG files, which are widely compatible and perfect for archiving, reprinting, or editing.
As with all of our archiving services, a good rule of thumb: if you bring in a physical mess, you'll get a digital mess in return. Have your photos and documents organized in advance, and we'll scan your originals in the same order — just make sure they're clearly marked. Plastic bags with labels, stacks banded together with an index card, or items loose in a box or tub all work fine. If your originals aren't in a specified order, we'll scan them grouped by size.
